Traditionally the annual Show is held on the last Friday and Saturday of July each year in Springwood Park, forty-six acres of parkland on the outskirts of Kelso. The Showground is adjacent to the world famous Junction Pool of the rivers Tweed and Teviot with a magnificent view of the Abbey and the unique five arch bridge built in 1802 as a model for the old Waterloo bridge in London.

The Show includes competition for Ponies, Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Dairy Goats, Poultry, Alpacas, Shepherds' Crooks, Horse Shoeing, Young Farmers Stock Judging and Industrial Arts, with over five hundred open classes. There are approximately 250 trade stands including farm machinery, crafts and gifts, motor vehicles, clothing, equestrian goods, food outlets and furniture retailers. There is also a special Countryside Area, the ‘Flavours of the Borders’ Food Fair, a Children's Fun Fair, Catering and Bars. These are open on both days and there is Main Ring family entertainment on the Saturday afternoon. (Please see Family Fun Day)

The Show has a range of classes for horses and ponies including Mountain and Moorland Ridden and In-Hand, First Ridden and Lead Rein, Riding Ponies, Hunter Pony Breeding, Coloured Horses, Working Hunter Ponies, Show Jumping, Burghley Young Event Horse, Burghley Event Pony, Hunters, Riding Horses, Side Saddle and Heavy Horses. There are qualifiers for various NPS awards and The Horse of the Year Show.

Cattle sections include Aberdeen Angus, Galloway, Native Beef Breeds, Continental Beef Breeds, Commercial Beef Cattle and Young Handler classes.

Sheep sections include Border Leicester, Suffolk, Cheviot, NCC, Lairg type Cheviot, Blackface, Bluefaced Leicester, Texel, Charollais, Scotch Half Bred, Scotch Mule, Unregistered Suffolks, Jacob, Shetland, Lleyn, Prime Lambs and Young Handler classes.

There are also classes for Dairy Goats and Alpacas.
